October / November Newsletter

Thank you to all parents for choosing The Dance Connection as the studio of choice to train their children in the
Art of Dance. This is our 31st year of dance instruction in the Battlefords and we look forward to teaching all of
our enthused new students, as well as, our wonderful returning students. We are grateful for your ongoing
support and know it is going to be a fun and rewarding dance season for all !!

This newsletter is intended to keep all parents and dancers informed of important dates to remember and a
few reminders regarding studio policies, festival and recital information. Please make sure to mark these dates
on your calendar that are listed throughout this newsletter as attendance is mandatory. We recently emailed
these important dates as well on a separate sheet for quick reference. Please review the Welcome Newsletter
and other studio policies on our website along with photo gallery of past years dance classes at: danceconnectionnb.com

Class attendance: illness is unforeseen, however missing more than 2 classes in a row (two weeks) may
results in removal from dance. Please keep us informed of missing classes by texting us at 306-481-6224 or
emailing us – dance.connection@sasktel.net

Staff Parking: Teachers do not have set working hours and any parking at the back of the studio is for teacher
parking only. You may use the back lane as a drop-off or pick-up spot but do not park or leave vehicle in the
back lane unattended. Please make sure your child is safely in the building before driving away.
Lost and Found: Please make sure to check out the lost and found. It is always full of shoes, boots and
clothing. Make sure your name is clearly marked on all dance wear and shoes. Any left overs at the end of the
dance year will be donated. This year we donated several bags of clothing!

Kitchen: Students using the kitchen and refrigerator are expected to clean up after themselves. Food items
should be labeled with dancer’s name. Dancers should please bring their own water bottle to the studio with
your name clearly marked on the bottle. We are happy to provide water from the water cooler however, it is
more environmentally friendly to not be using so many little cups. If you need to use the paper cups please be
sure the cup is thrown in the garbage when done – not crushed on the front steps or in the studio yard.
Other festivals and workshops: Information regarding festivals, workshops and other news of interest are
posted on the bulletin board. Those wishing to attend workshops must make sure it does not conflict with Dance
Connection studio dates booked.

Tap Exams: Students taking part in the CDTA tap exam classes are required to purchase set practice CD and
notes. The CD’s are $15.00 and the notes are $5.00 GST included. The notes include all information for every
grade. Please see teacher to purchase these items. Information regarding tap exams and mock tap exams will
be in a separate newsletter and you will be informed which exam your child will be able to take. This tap exam
newsletter will be coming out soon by email and will list the exam fees and other exam information.

2019. The newsletter will also list the exam fees which are also due by November 15, 2018. If you have
questions regarding tap exams please see Virginia. Weekly attendance is important for dancers taking their
exam. Missed classes may result in removal from taking the exam. You will however, still be responsible for the
exam fees after entry has been sent in.
Please remember to dress correctly – For Tap Exam Classes proper “Exam” dance attire is required. All girls
must wear bodysuit (any colour), tights and tap shoes. Hair must be in a bun.
